Hi ive read Angela's ashes too like a lot of other people. I find it very moving and emotional but at the same time enjoyable. I think it's one of the best books i've read. I am half-way through reading 'Tis' and that too is a very high standard novel.

comments: This is an awesome book. The only reason I read this book was for English class. I read it on the recommedation of my teacher. Now that I've read it, I have to admit that this is, indeed, the best book I've ever read. I can't wait to read "Tis".

comments: Hi,I have read both "Angela's Ashes" and "'Tis".I agree that these book's are enjoyable and are written with a degree of literary genius, but at the same time they are self pitying and depressing.people say "write about what you know," but I start to wonder is depression and poverty all Frank Mc Court is about??He has had a very hard life,we have established that, but I don't think that all those years ago he approached it all with the same dry humour and complacancy.in the years since,as he settled in to a more financially stable life,he has been able to approach it in self-pitying,nostalgic way.He plays on stereotypes and pulls every heartstring in the book.He gains sympathy with the reader. He sells more books. It is a simple yet cunning marketing ploy.
Now, don't get me wrong-I'm not trying to dis' Mc Court.I'm simply pointing out aspects to the book and applying my own valid critical veiws.
Well,I have to hand it to you Mr Mc Court, you have done a good job of balancing life experience, literary genius and a profitable business venture.Bravo,I admire you,and keep up the good work!!!

P.S;Sorry to any of you romantics out there,I just hate to see a book being discredited when seen through rose-tinted glasses.Mabe I'm a cynic.I don't know, why don't you tell me?

comments: The emerald hills of Antrim
Gaze beyond the sea
To watch the Hound of Ulster
Being forced to flee
Beaten by the Giant
He runs into the night
He did not stand a chance at all
It was an unfair fight
Along come the King of Chews
But no new fight begins
He does not need his little stone
This story is Cuchulain's

comments: I loved the story. Frank Mc Court is an excellent story teller. When you start to read the book, it's hard to put it away. It's like you're one of the neighbours of the family and you can see them struggle to survive every day.
Definately a book I'll read again!
